A British No 3 Mk II Rifle Grenade (left).
Stokes mortar grenades (right).

The standard types of ammunition were also recovered here: several dumps and loose examples of hand grenades (Battye, Jam Tin, Mills), rifle grenades (No. 3, No. 22 Newton Pippin, Viven Bessiére), mortar grenades (Stokes 3-inch) and remains of shells (HZ 15, 150mm, 18-pounders). It was remarkable that the shell holes caused by German attacks, were all very close to the British trenches.
The last category of artefacts is the personal objects: some fragments of ceramic pipes, well preserved matches, parts of mouth organs and two copper coins.

Six soldiers were recovered and examined; more information can be found in the chapter "soldiers".
