The fill of the trenches revealed some finds which enable an intriguing insight in the daily life of the men occupying the defence line. It needs no explanation that the majority of the finds originate from the standard military equipment. They consist of cloth fragments of the uniform, weaponry, ammunition, … A second category of finds groups the utensils which aren’t part of the standard gear: bottles, tins, earth ware pots for pastry, … Next to these two categories one can find personal items from time to time: pipes, matches, playing-cards, a mouth-organ, even fragmentary remains of newspapers.

Apart of trenches, , different impact craters of German shells could be documented. In some cases the fragments of the fuse enable the archaeologist to traces the type of artillery used.
