GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY AT FORWARD COTTAGE AND "THE BATTLE OF BIXSCHOTE"

The results from the resistivity survey carried out by BACTEC on the Forward Cottage site. Take note of the trench.

Two sites have been the subjects of a resistivity survey. The first one, at “The Battle of Bixscote” site was undertaken by the I.A.P. together with British colleague Martin Brown (East Sussex County Council (UK)). The first application of the technique unfortunately did not yield many results, except for the location of modern drainage pipes. In a second attempt, the private firm BACTEC (BACTEC International Ltd; Explosive Ordnance Disposal & Landmine Clearance.) performed a resistivity search of the Forward Cottage site. This time, the results were positive: trenches showed up very clearly and other anomalies became clear. This geophysical technique will be integrated in the research of other selected zones, since similar use abroad led to many interesting results.
